The Creation Process

Burella Gardiner pouring the pottery plaster molds full with slip (liquid clay).  This is a mug mold.

Burella removes the pottery plaster mold from greenware mug four  hours after casting molds with slip.

Burella trims the soft greenware mug before letting it dry and harden.

Using coloured clays, Karen paints on the dry raw clay mug then kiln fires to 2000 degrees turning the clay into bisque.

Burella glazes the bisque fired mug with clear, lead free glaze.  Once dried it is fired again to 1860 degrees.

Burella glazes the brand new "Bahamian Safari" scoop bowl before refiring to 1860 degrees to complete the process.
